more than pictures, those are portraits painted with natural light.
Edoardo Romagnoli do not use any postproduction, his images are realised at once using together time with movement into the space. As the brush for the painter, the camera becomes the main instrument for the artist to express his own creative vision. The light – magic and misterious – traces memories and tracks upon natural landscapes that become almost unknown. The observer has the opportunity to move over the simple image of the subject and to share a surrealist look of reality.
His masters have been Giulio Confalonieri, one of the most significant designers, master of aesthetics and life; John Goodman, photographer, artist and great communicator.
The first photo to the moon dates back to 1988 and represents the beginning of a long work that will devote him for many years up to the 1992. The lunar investigations will be suspended then for other searches and finally he resumed with new intuitions in the 2007. The moon is object of an untiring observation; Romagnoli makes it the protagonist of his long experimentations renewing in every release the original charm that ravishes him. The turned work to the moon is in constant development and it intensifies itself during the time as a shut dialogue, never delaying on the gotten results.
His research is based on graphic composition (“Stazione Centrale”, “Fabbrica del Vapore”, “Ponti”) and the magic of light, as the series of images “Luna” (Moon – 1990,2007 and 2008 till today), “Capodanno a Londra” (New Year’s Day in London), “Sabbia” (Sand), “NY” and “Alberi” (Trees). In 2009 the German publishing house Springer has published the book “Lune” realizing an extraordinary graphic project studied in 1996 by Giulio Confalonieri for Edoardo Romagnoli’s photos and enriched by the text of prof. Piero Bianucci.
Since 2010 he has taking part to “White Meditation Room” project at Galleria Grossetti Arte Contemporanea, a work interally dedicated to the concept of white, to the extraneation from material to nature.
Since 2010 he regularly takes part in National and International Fairs.
In June 2012 the Museum of Contemporary art of Strasbourg has acquired two photos of the Moon.
