Transitory Presence
Returning to an anthropocentric perspective these questions are more promptly answered. For there is change perceived in each of the visited places. The observing eye highlights sensations among memories, incites reflection within the subject, becoming someone else with the passage of fractions of minutes of camera exposure, the alibi of an incessant journey through distant lands. Here, it is not Man who leaves footprints in the ground he stomps; it is the Earth that imprints on the subject the tracks of a new, attuned life.
As the observer moves, their perception moves along, selecting particularities in the transitory scenery, dreamscape, dimming everything else around it, which will soon be lost in the depths of imprecise memories. His focus lies ahead, in the path that culminates in light, the received light that explodes and irradiates in its arrival. Light that brushstrokes the passage of time. Time-illusion, invention of the man who paints with memory the blurred landscapes through which he strolled.
Schietti has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the University of Brasilia. In 2011 he funded a photographic studio specialised in advertising photography in Brasilia, which continues to function through his fellow partners. Vitor studied cinema in Los Angeles and in São Paulo, and is often involved in video productions. He’s participated in several solo and collective exhibits in Brazil, Spain, Italy, USA, India, Japan and Russia. Schietti's series “Impermanent Sculptures” was awarded by the PDN 2016 Photo Annual in NYC and gained international recognition.

Is the human presence at a given space/time capable of modifying this space/time? Printed footsteps, oxygen turned into carbon dioxide, the shadow projected by the body, emitted sounds: is this presence somehow felt by the particles of air, soil or water? about the photographer
Vitor Schietti's work is dedicated to the visual representations of dreams and memories as building blocks of one’s identity. His motifs go from landscape to portraiture, applying long exposure, multiples exposures and light painting techniques to transform concepts and ideas into engaging images. Vitor was born in Brasilia (Brazil) in 1986, but feels like a citizen of the world having travelled across many countries and lived in New Zealand, United States, Canada and currently in Spain.
