Making Love To My Depression

entry description
I decided to take a shot that reflected how I felt. This shot was a turning point for me, a release, cathartic and it gave me confidence to pursue the other ideas and emotions whirling around in my head, to resume putting it on paper and bringing it to life in images. I was trapped in despair Couldn't breathe, couldn't move, couldn't feel anything but the bludgeoning of emotional agony. This unrelenting all-consuming pain, embraced me. And as it It held me tightly, comfortably, familiar I struggled to find any other truth So IT became my truth, My solace, my solitude And I kept making love to my depression.about the photographer
I'm a Conceptual Photographer from the island Trinidad. Conceptual Photography for me, means bridging the gap between surrealism and reality. My work usually focuses on identity, complexion, anxiety and pain. It's moody but necessarily dark. Being shortlisted by Sony World Photography Organization in their Open, Enhanced category this year has really opened me up to push forward with my freedom of expression and subsequently will have my first exhibited image in Somerset, House London in April, 21st because of the opportunity. Currently I'm working on putting together an exhibit in Trinidad, a website and continual development of my aesthetic.back to gallery
