Fractal Leaves
By moving the camera whilst shooting I’m effectively painting with light and the scene in front of the camera becomes the most wonderful brush. Although abstract I always try and maintain a resonance with the organic nature of the subject even if it is not obvious what the subject was and hence try to offer an insight into the excitement and energy I feel when I am out with my camera.

entry description
Fractal Leaves was taken in November 2016. In November the leaves have fallen and lay on the ground in varying shades of greens, yellows and oranges. I wanted to capture and celebrate this colourful mosaic. To accentuate the texture I rotated the camera and zoomed my lens at the same time but in a stepped motion so that it would print the scene at each stop. The camera was handheld during this process. I was really excited with the result which reminded me of a complex fractal pattern. It also seemed to reflect the flickering vibrancy of the leaves when they were on the trees even though they were now fallen and becoming part of the woodland floor.about the photographer
My photography explores the world that we know, of trees and landscapes, a world that is regarded as static and adds time and motion into the mix. These additions unlock a pallete of textures, colours and patterns that highlight aspects of our amazing environment that can often be overlooked.By moving the camera whilst shooting I’m effectively painting with light and the scene in front of the camera becomes the most wonderful brush.
