Abstract Waterscapes
The images are created using intentional camera movement, causing motion blur, to gain a painterly affect. Controlling the speed of camera movement, aperture and shutter speed determines the look of the final image.
The "Colours of Huron" image (Young,Tim_1.jpg) was made after a storm over Lake Huron. I was awestruck with the colors of the water. The beige color at the bottom of the image was due to the sand being churned up by the waves that were two to three feet high.
"On the Aegean" (Young,Tim_2.jpg) was made while cruising the Aegean Sea / Eastern Mediterranean.
"Sandbanks Sunset" (Young,Tim_3.jpg) was made looking out over Lake Ontario from the shores of Sandbanks Provincial Park.
"Storm Clouds Rising" (Young,Tim_4.jpg) was created while the storm clouds were rolling in over Lake Ontario.
The "Strolling the Beach at Sunset" image (Young,Tim_5.jpg) was created totally in-camera. The "ghost images" were not added digitally.
Given his first camera at the age of eight, Tim began taking pictures of family, friends and while on vacation.
While on duty in South Korea with the U.S. Air Force Tim purchased his first SLR camera. This began a love for photography as he traveled throughout Korea documenting the people, places and everyday life of the culture.
As a self-taught photographer, Tim has travelled throughout Europe and North America, including Hawaii, with visits to Morocco, Trinidad & Tobago, Dominican Republic, and Haiti.
Tim's work reflects his love for travel and the beauty of the natural world which displays God's majestic handiwork.
Tim's current series of work focuses on his passion; creating abstract waterscape and landscape images.

entry description
My current body of work, which is an ongoing project, is a collection of abstract waterscapes and landscapes. I chose to create these abstract images to allow the viewer to see the beauty of Nature by showing the patterns and colours (vivid at times and pastel at other times) without focusing on the details of the scene, thus evoking emotion and a feeling of tranquility. The images are created using intentional camera movement, causing motion blur, to gain a painterly affect. Controlling the speed of camera movement, aperture and shutter speed determines the look of the final image.
