Baby beanies
Due to the lack of incubators at the Tosamaganga hospital in Tanzania, little woollen baby beanies are worn by the newborns during Kangaroo Mother Care therapy to prevent and treat neonatal hypothermia.
This initiative is supported by Doctors with Africa CUAMM (an Italian NGO) and is part of an ongoing research study in partnership with the University of Padua.
Beautiful photographic images – taken by other people – have always touched my heart. So, when I take beautiful ones, I enjoy sharing them.
Travel interests me very much, not as a holiday, but as a means of discovery and to learn. I have visited over a hundred different places, all with my camera, many on my motor bike.
I currently work with NGOs and non-profit organisations, volunteering my photography skills.

entry description
Kangaroo Mother Care is a low-cost – and highly recommended – method for keeping premature newborn babies warm, in particular in hospitals that do not have incubators or do have not enough to cover the needs of all the babies. Despite the warmth transmitted by the mother to her child via this therapy, the newborn’s head often remains uncovered, thus exposing the baby to hypothermia.Due to the lack of incubators at the Tosamaganga hospital in Tanzania, little woollen baby beanies are worn by the newborns during Kangaroo Mother Care therapy to prevent and treat neonatal hypothermia.

about the photographer
My passion is photography; my work is in another field although I often use my camera for my professional activities. I have been looking through a camera lens for about forty years, using it to concentrate what I find visually interesting. I use my eyes to observe, scrutinise, seize the moment and shoot. When I am lucky, I do it with the camera too.Beautiful photographic images – taken by other people – have always touched my heart. So, when I take beautiful ones, I enjoy sharing them.
