entry description
This series celebrates depictions of tonalities interpreted by the brain as "silver" - using gelatin silver paper, as well as the occasionally successful contemporary pigment print . It explores how certain subject surfaces and treatments lend themselves to a silvery rendition. The series includes a darkroom-solarized brugmansia photogram, a darkroom-solarized "cubist" nude, a darkroom-solarized landscape, a plastic film camera image (a slide in the rain with flash), and an apple peel abstract pigment print using a scanner-as-camera.about the photographer
Graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with Honors and a year's studies at Karl August Universitaet, Goettingen, I begin silver printing 35 years ago and studied with many master photographers. Though I've continuously enjoyed having a darkroom, currently it's photograms, solarizations, lumen prints, and lith printing that take me there, and digital for the rest of the work.My work continues to be honored with international awards and exhibitions.
