entry description
Individuals take part in impulsive behaviors when dealing with the chaos that is occurring in their life. Everyone copes with their emotions in different ways. Often times, an individual’s environment is a reflection of who a person is and how they choose to handle their emotions. I have created a visual narrative of an individual gradually succumbing to their weaknesses. Without showing her identity, I focused on photographing her environment in relation to herself and how she feels. Showing messy drawers or a messy bed, is a behind the scenes look into the way one deals with their emotions. In the process of her succumbing to whatever disarray that is occurring in her mind or in the world, she, as well as her environment, is exposed throughout the images. As a result, she does impulsive things such as breaking dishes, medicating herself, having sex, and so on. All of her actions and items of her acts represent the individual losing her sense of self. However, doing all of those impulsive things is a way of discovering who she is as a person. I wanted the viewers of this series to feel voyeuristic as they view the life of a girl trying to find a way to deal with her internal pain.about the photographer
