GIUSEPPE GAMBINO italy
title
HospITAlity
Palermo city of welcome and its neighborhoods of peaceful coexistence between different cultures. In this context my story is born and that of Augustine a Nigerian immigrant escaped from his country to escape terrorism and men of Boko Haram.
Arrived in Sicily from Libya with an inflatable boat along with 380 others, welcomed in Biagio Conte's Hope and Caritas Mission where he still lives; In the expectation of getting documents for a dignified life I and my family help Augustine to integrate into the community of the city of Palermo.
I am interested in documentary photography and social reportage, at the center of my work there is my land: Sicily of which I love describe the cultural crosses and existential paradoxes, with particular regard to the territory and people living in the South.
"You do not just take a photo with the camera. You put in the picture all the pictures you've seen, the books you read, the music you heard and the people you loved."
