Afghan National Institute of Music
After visiting the womens orchestra at two concerts in Berlin (1st photo) and Weimar,
I visited Dr. Sarmast Music School in Kabul in the spring of 2017.
Dr. Sarmast is the director and founder of the music school. Thanks to his support and work that this school gives a childhood to some kids of Afghanistan and hope to thousends of Afghan people.
The photos show a different Afghanistan that we know and it is a contrast to the daily news in the television. Behind these high walls and razor wire, you can see girls and boys learning both classic persian instruments and european instruments. You can see them having a snowball battle and enjoying life which is great.
During my visit in Kabul in February 2017 there was one suicide bombing with about 20 people dead and a attack on a convoy of red crescent in the north of afghanistan with six people dead.
Technical Information
All the photos are shot with a Leica M-A on Ilford Delta 400 and Delta 3200, developed in DD-X.
