entry description
As I wandered into the outskirts of Delhi, India I stumbled upon a celebration which I was soon invited to join. These are photographs of a Haldi Ceremony which is a day of celebration before an Indian Wedding. The bride and groom each have their own separate ceremony with their closest family and friends. The haldi is a yellow paste made of turmeric. It is smeared on the bride and groom in order to protect them of evil before their wedding day. As the ceremony progresses many other participants are covered in haldi as a symbol of purification and blessings. This series of photographs was taken at the groom's haldi ceremony. The ceremony is a joyous event of dancing and eating and I was lucky to be able to participate.about the photographer
