A tintype, also known as a melainotype or ferrotype, is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion.The presentation of a barren stand of trees as a tintype, reflects the timelessness of nature in contrast with the fleeting nature of ones own existence.

Originally from Sudbury Ontario, now residing in Fergus, John has been an avid photographer since the early 1970s. His interest in nature has provided a strong focus for his work.His images are available in a wide array of sizes, both framed and unframed. John has utilized a variety of media to display his photography, including; canvas, aluminum, and acrylic. Many of his pieces are auctioned off in support of various non-profit charities.
