Digital Self
After just two years of covering weddings and high-profile events in the tri-state area, I was invited to shoot with a studio in the Turks & Caicos islands. This led to shooting many destination weddings, swimwear editorials, as well as commercial real-estate and resort advertising campaigns. My four years working in and living in the Caribbean has had a strong impact on my lighting style and it really honed my vision as a photographer. I am preparing for my next chapter starting my own in New York City as a full-time fashion photographer.

entry description
This image was pivotal for me in steering my overall feel and tonality for a lot of my future work. It was a result of, as much of my portfolio is, experimentation- What I love about this picture was the method in which we attained it which was a combination of a happy accident mixed with the right intentions- I wanted to project the pattern on the model's face, however for whatever reason my studio strobes just weren't providing the definition we required; it just didn't have enough character. We switched to a completely different light-source- a uniquely designed, 3 bulb LED light, that projected the most interesting variations of patterns on her face, while being focused enough not to contaminate the rest of the scene. The concept behind the shoot is quite simply a visual interpretation of how more and more we are far more concerned with our "digital selves," how we are portrayed in our social media presence and likes as opposed to our own, physical beauty. The model is beautiful, yet all we see is her digital portrayal..about the photographer
I have been fascinated with making images ever since I was a kid. I grew up in a small residential town in Maryland called Crofton. I went camping frequently and grew familiar with the clean, golden light that often accompanied the early mornings surrounded in nature. I didn’t know it at the time, but my consistent exposure to these scenes would come to heavily influence my aesthetic as an image maker. During my art education I drew a strong interest to commercial and editorial fashion photography. I spent multiple summers mentoring under one of the top fashion photographers in Baltimore and quickly realized I had a future in this realm. Different opportunities presented themselves however and I pushed myself into the event photography scene, diving head-first into the wedding and portrait business.
