Passionate About
The Portraits show leading personalities in Particle Physics at CERN, the worlds largest particle physics laboratory. The series includes 20 scientists, among them CERN Dir. General Fabiola Gianotti, Nobel Price winner Prof. Jack Steinberger, and many more moving minds. The portraits and thoughts implemented into the picture are the essence of an interview with these passionate scientists and big thinkers who pursue their visions even though they might not live long enough to see their theories come true.
In our rushing society it is all too common to loose sight of what is really important to us intellectually. Yet some people just follow their interests. And by their creative process they go beyond their limits and they affect others in an inspiring way. Within the long time project „passionate about“ all of them speak about passion, personal experiences, challenges, motivation and offer inspiration and tips for the young generation.
Portraits show:
- CERN Director General Fabiola Gianotti
- Nobel Price Winner Prof. Jack Steinberger
- Prof. Daniel Denegri, "Father" of the large hadron collider at CERN
- Prof. John Ellis
- Dr. Maurizio Pierini

Bree’s works have been nationally and internationally awarded, exhibited in seven european countries and are being represented by the galleries “Bildpark Gallery” from Munich and “Galerie Marion Stöter” from Hamburg. Since 2012 Bree teaches for the masterclass of the „Austrian Academy of Photography“ two times a year. In summer Bree lives on a sailboat in the mediterranean, expanding her artworks and working on her next book. She is a passionate image creator since 17 years.
LONG TIME PROJECT
Within her project „passionate about“ Bree portrays inspiring personalities from science and art including CERN Director General Fabiola Gianotti, Nobel-Price Winner Prof. Jack Steinberger, Dancers from the Vienna State Opera, and many more.
PERSONAL
I have always been an observer. Photography made me a reflective and analytic person too. I passionately love to create with light and in case something can be produced without Photoshop I will do so, as this is what I understand as mastery of the basics.
MOTIVATION
I hope to encourage people to look deeper. It seems important to me that my art affects the viewer in a positive way, because – as Richard Avedon mentioned – images of the bad, the ugly, the violating only bring up more of the same.
