Macau: in the imprisonment of poverty

entry description
Macao is a rich city. The highest PIB per capita in the world. Besides that, there are a lot of people that don't have money. People who have no job. These are some of the faces that the society of Macao marginalizes, ostracize. They are the faces of people whom life has already given everything, but who now have little to eat . They live, with the help of Caritas, in the shelter of Casa Corcel. In a land where the unemployment rate has been levying between 1 and 2% for years, why is there so much misery? No organization or authority can respond concretely to these issues. The series of photographs shows a summary of a few days spent [in the company of 78 residents] of Casa Corcel. Some did not want to show the face on the story, preferring anonymity. Others, were not worried about appearing. But what is it to be poor in a land where abundance comes from the gambling industry, in millions, and where there is opportunity for all? What I saw, and felt, were closed faces, resigned, with the desire to shout at any moment, for all of them, faces of people to whom life has already given everything, so I pay my humble homage.back to gallery
