The Silent Stories
Every year she comes with her family and herd of camels to the annual trade at Pushkar camel and cattle trade and fair. Like other many villagers she also camps on the sand dunes out side the town.
Being the eldest sister she takes care of the camp and her younger siblings, and also the camel herd while her parents are away and busy in fetching the best deals for their camels.
When I visit the fair every year, I search for her in the entire chaotic and crowded town and at least meet her once.
This Photograph was captured 3 years back when i met her for the first time. she covered her face to avoid any conflict with strangers ( like me ) and gave me this bold look which silently told me to stay back and not to interfere with her routine matters or be too much friendly with her. She's forbidden to do that!
She does not go to school to contribute to her parents work also to take responsibility of her home and her siblings.
The maturity and street smartness that life has taught her in such a young age reflects clearly her eyes.
But as I met her again and again every year, she now recognizes me and at least flashes me a distant smile. But in these many years, every time we both make eye contact, we have a silent conversations. There are so many hidden untold stories to tell by those magical deep bold eyes.
