Crooked Crown King
Images can be deceiving, as this King is actually wearing a curtain I took off the wall for a cloak, channeling the great Scarlett O'Hara. The fur around his neck was not won from battle with a bear. (Although this King's real name is Bear.) The fur was actually taken from a coat hanging in the closet. (It's not real fur.) I used a free texture overlay to give it a more refined, aged look. The crooked crown came about when this epic warrior King decided he was done with the session and wanted to flee. (He has autism, so getting his portraits takes some effort.) Alas, he has retired his crown and has forged a new empire, this one out of Lego's. Less fur.

about the photographer
I have been taking pictures most of my life with varying types of equipment. I'm self taught, if you can say that. I learned all I know through practice and purchasing online courses. My studio shots are taken in my basement with a set of $35 umbrella lights. You can usually find my subjects (my kids) in curtains or adult clothes I've wrapped around them. I have tried to become a successful professional in recent years with no success. Most of my clients were free sessions my friends and family kindly posed for, and in two years, I've brought in $590. I can't compete with the locals who shoot for $20. So, I have decided to focus on my art, which is my passion, and enter competitions with some of my "studio" work. I love transforming my kids into whatever vision I've had for their portraits, and it helps me bond with them. My son has autism, and I've found connecting to him through art, photography, and channeling his big ideas into images has been a great success. I have dreams of seeing my work displayed in galleries someday.back to gallery
