Constricted
I wanted to detach the viewer from the person by the application of abstract colors to the skin tones and focusing closely on the subjects soft but subtly desperate expression. She is suffering but she is so beautiful and is gracefully submitting to the ideals put forth on her.
She's struggling, but is she not fighting hard enough because she does not have it in her or because subconsciously she enjoys the idea that she is a step ahead of most women because of her beauty?
My photographs, more specifically my fine-art work, is looked at through various lenses. There is a Salvador Dali-esque surrealism that spills in through my work and a story behind each photograph that is forthcoming. In sharing our stories as artists, we help others out by showing them that suffering and trauma are not isolated experiences.
Photography, for me, has been a form of escapism and a means for me to cope. While there have been many obstacles for me to overcome, it has been rewarding once I've crossed that threshold. My work is a culmination of not only a major shift in my work but a major shift in my life. With each photo, I am challenging myself in different ways, whether it be emotionally or technically.
My goal is to not only tell a story within a photograph but to continue to look into myself and discover something new.

about the photographer
I have been working as a fine art and beauty/fashion photographer since 2013. I started in 2012 with a dingy little Nikon, taking pictures of families and couples until I found my calling with other avenues that were more challenging for me technically but liberating for me creatively. My photographs, more specifically my fine-art work, is looked at through various lenses.
