Black and White Study in Water Flow

entry description
This series of images is a study of water flow in Black and White over time, from the calm to the turbulent. The first three images were created using a simple piece of welder's glass as a heavy density filter to facilitate long-exposures at midday, while remaining two images were created with a 3-stop ND filter keeping the exposure time shorter. The bold contrasts of black and white in the images complement the soft vicissitudes of the water traveling through time.about the photographer
In my real-world life, I am Physician Anesthesiologist who cares for some of the most critically ill trauma patients. However, as a visually oriented and highly technical person, I gravitated to photography as a hobby, and am a self-taught landscape, nature, abstract, and fine art hobbyist photographer. My knowledge and skills as a photographer have grown organically, allowing me to pick up different skills and incorporate them into my photographs as I learn about them. In so doing, I have been able to keep a broad view of photography and learn to capture various other areas of photographic interest. The caliber of my current work is an evolution of this growth as a photographer, reflects who I am as a person and how I view the world around me. By finding the beauty of details in scenes that many others may not see, allows me to compose images which highlight some aspect in detail. I glean my inspiration from the simple beauty that surrounds all of us in this world and enjoy sharing life’s beauty with others through my photographs!back to gallery
