entry description
At sea, 60 miles from Belize off Lighthouse Atoll, 80 feet deep. Light is dim, the spectrum reduced to the dark end, current swept... a pair of diminutive Peppermint shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni), moving constantly in the darkness, watch the world go by from within their vase sponge. I must guard that no part of my equipment or body touches the sponge lest the shrimp flee or detritus is loosened from the inside of the sponge. The depth of field is slightly more than the thickness of a piece of paper. Takwn with an Olympus OMD-EM1 with 60mm macro lens and a bright video light shining through the thin wall of the sponge to cast a glow on the interior. This is a difficult shot.about the photographer
