entry description
The Single(s) selection of my work aims to purposefully resonate the symptoms of patriarchal voyeurism. This type of ritualistic voyeurism has become embedded into our social semantics, to physically and psychologically fragment the female form. These works aspire to discombobulate the spectators desire and un-altruistic aspirations of ruin, to subversively echo the role of women as a visual and cultural commodity.about the photographer
MKLK, is a British Artist. Born in Manchester, 1986. MKLK currently resides in Norfolk. MKLK explores the male gaze through an elaborate and carefully constructed ritual of performance and documentation. MKLK purposefully responds to the psycho-social aspects of Sigmund Freud’s analysis of the Oedipus complex; in order to highlight the process of visual and psychological fragmentation of the female form. MKLK’s practice instinctively syphons from the potent combination of desire and ruin, to subversively resonate the role of women as a visual and cultural commodity.back to gallery
