As a child I was drawn to things hidden away. I saw a beauty in fine details that I assumed everyone could recognize. Only later did I understand that each of us sees things differently; what is noticed by me may not be recognized by others, and vice versa.
In this photo series you will see the ancient neighborhoods of Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia built 16 centuries ago on the Mtkvari river. While retouching these photos I intentionally altered the original coloration, favoring mellow orange and a cold hue of blue. I love all shades of blue, and an artist friend of mine is partial to orange. Those affinities inspired the color enhancements you see here.
In short, I wanted this photo series to reflect the city’s dynamic imprint on the river and on me.
