Descent of Divinity
The photo was shot in Beigang Mazu procession during the Festival. In the picture, the deity in the palanquin is called the 'Tiger God', the mount of Mazu and the pilot of the processions. Legend has it, the Tiger God is fond of eating firecrackers. Hence, the amount of firecrackers under the Tiger God's palanquin and the smoke as a result are usually the most spectacular ones, making the instant as though the deity is descending from above.

'Mazu March Mania', officially called 'Mazu Festival', demonstrates the passion and craze for blessing of gods, with a deafening and stifling tradition to bombard the passing palanquins with firecrackers, which is believed that more firecrackers can bring greater prosperity.The photo was shot in Beigang Mazu procession during the Festival.
