entry description
I had visited this scene a few times without capturing what I knew the scene promised. This image was made in October 2018 when a grey sky started to break up around dawn providing all the drama I had hoped for. A combination of ND Grads and a LEE 6 stop ND filter allowed for the balancing of the exposure and the hint of movement in the water and the clouds. Buachaille Etive Mor is a powerful subject, dominating the background yet for this image to work other elements need to be in play at the time of capture, namely cloud and water. It is these that give balance to the image. Canon 5D MkIV, Canon 16-35 mm MkIII @ 16mm. 13 seconds. ISO 100 f13about the photographer
Chris Ceaser is an award winning photographer based at his gallery in York, U.K. For the last 15 years he has been building a powerful portfolio of landscape photography. Chris uses a traditional approach to photography, using grad filters and ND filters to control the light within an image with the aim of producing a virtually finished image 'in camera', certainly with regard to composition and the overall 'feel' of the image. He is an Ambassador for the Canson Infinity range of fine art papers and has been recognised in worldwide events such as the paris Photography Prize, The ND awards, the International Photography Awards and the British Photography Awards. Together with his gallery in York, Chris runs a series of photography workshops in the U.K. and Europe.back to gallery
