Submerged, Wast Water

entry description
This image was made using a Lee Filters 0.6 Nd filter to flatten the movement in the water and add some movement in the moody sky. A 0.9 ND soft grad was used to balance the exposure a little. Made after sunset there is a blue cast which gives the finished piece an abstract quality. The water levels on the day were high, and the rocky formation was partly submerged, with the exposed area acting as a carved 'lead in' line taking the eye through towards those distant mountains. The western lakes are perhaps the most rugged and add drama to any composition.about the photographer
Chris Ceaser is an award winning photographer based at his gallery in York, U.K. For the last 15 years he has been building a powerful portfolio of landscape photography. Chris uses a traditional approach to photography, using grad filters and ND filters to control the light within an image with the aim of producing a virtually finished image 'in camera', certainly with regard to composition and the overall 'feel' of the image. He is an Ambassador for the Canson Infinity range of fine art papers and has been recognised in worldwide events such as the paris Photography Prize, The ND awards, the International Photography Awards and the British Photography Awards. Together with his gallery in York, Chris runs a series of photography workshops in the U.K. and Europe.back to gallery
