entry description
Two girls standing in front of their ‘floating house’ on the outskirts of Belen, near to Iquitos, Peru. As the entire area of Iquitos remains remote and unavailable to reach by land (most common transportation option includes following the Amazon River) it is extremely prone to flooding. Streets made of ‘floating houses’ - just like the one displayed on the photography - turn into entire districts. The district where shot was taken by the locals is called "San Francisco", as it's located next to the old, collapsed bridge: the only one in the entire village. According to people living in "SF neighborhood", the bridge is suppose to be a Latin-American version of Golden Gate (which is hard to find analogy even with strong dose of imagination). Anyhow, the bridge is ruined, so every time the rain seasons comes in and the river floods, people have to stay in their "houses on water": moving through the neighborhood is possible only by boat... and only if you can afford one.about the photographer
Initially, photography was a hobby that aligned with many of my international trips, however soon after the aim of providing the visual understanding of social scenes, with their significance and complexity became my goal. Since then, I travel the world seeking for unique inspiration, exploring opportunities and keeping my eyes wide open in order to gain and extend my understanding of its sole nature. The long pursuit to improve my skills, style and knowledge has recently been recognized and published by NationalGeographic.com.
