Federico Scarchilli is a professor of Photographic Documentation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and Digital Image Processing at the Istituto Pantheon Design & Technology in Rome. He teaches photography in public socio-healthcare facilities, working with individuals at higher risk of social and work exclusion.
In 2024, his work Flora won the Sony World Photography Award in the Still Life category. Between 2020 and 2022, his Covid-related projects were exhibited at COVID-19 Visual Project by Cortona On The Move and CoviDiaries at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. In 2019, his project The Architecture of Knowledge was a finalist for the Marco Pesaresi Award. In 2018, he was awarded an artist residency for the Landxcape project, organized by the Puglia region and the Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d'Europe et de la Méditerranée. In 2016, he represented Italy at the Jeune Création Européenne biennial.
