Sweeping Tides
I hope the images with their aesthetic qualities and minimalist approach don’t seem too sterile but more elegant and intrinsically beautiful. In the hope of showing off and creating renewed interest in our idyllic little island.
This series was shot over April 2014, as a personal project.
I've experimented with a wide range of photography types and my work displays a variety of techniques and photographic disciplines. I really appreciate long exposure images and my work has a very distinct geometric or 'illusionist' approach. I’m often attracted to lines and structures that create a clearly aesthetic image, sources for these images may be natural or man made. This approach I would deem as my ‘style’ and what defines my images. I am however keen to explore other aspects, including the more conceptual approach to photography. Coupling my images with a greater depth whilst sustaining their aesthetic values, in order to cause the viewer to reflect on what is shown.

entry description
Recently it has been published that the tourism in Jersey (Channel Islands) is at an utmost decline. Attention is often turned to seasonal businesses and the financial woe they would incur. I, however, turned my gaze to Jersey's idyllic coastal landmarks and the silence they now hear. My images when presented together should create a sombre mood and should perhaps lament at days long gone by. My process in using Neutral Density (often 10stop) aids in creating this eerie landscape, devoid of human interaction. The images are all presented in black and white; effective I feel in creating a sense of mystery and add ghostly qualities.I hope the images with their aesthetic qualities and minimalist approach don’t seem too sterile but more elegant and intrinsically beautiful. In the hope of showing off and creating renewed interest in our idyllic little island.
