Solaris
In my mid-twenties I emigrated to Iceland and "Solaris" developed once again. It feels as if Iceland became my personal Solaris - a place I can't leave. How real is the feeling of happiness and can I be a part of society if I am absolutely isolated from my culture and roots? The photo series "Solaris" is a reflection of my contemplation on emigration, isolation and reality.

entry description
Photo series "Solaris" was born in Iceland, though its godfather is the great master of cinema - Andrei Tarkovsky. His film "Solaris" (1972) accompanied me through all my life. The perceptions and interpretations of "Solaris" (the film) changed through the years. They grew and developed together with me. It seemed as a mysterious and adventurous film when I was a little girl, then later, while being a teenager, I started noticing hidden criticism for the Soviet Union regime. At last it became a metaphor for an examination of the human soul. What is love? What makes a ‘human’?In my mid-twenties I emigrated to Iceland and "Solaris" developed once again.
