Protests Come and Go
'Protests Come and Go' is a portrait of protest which aims to explore the insinuations and connotations of one single political quote; an ongoing series that presents the protester as mere noise in a vacuum, as static, dust, haze, mist; rising, congesting, disintegrating and dissipating.
The work is created entirely in the darkroom, combining 35mm black and white photos of Irish protesters with split-grade printing and photogram techniques.
- Simon Prunty
His work frequently utilises analogue photography, darkroom printing techniques, photograms and – in the realm of digital photography - long exposures and light-painting techniques.
An artist first, his work explores conceptual territory, with an ever-growing thematic emphasis on the power possessed by or absent from the individual in society.
Simon lives and works in Dublin, Ireland.
