We usually photograph the ephemeral beauty of flowers while they are still young and fresh. In this project I tried to capture the attractiveness of roses when they are in decay - like portraits of old people.This project is a tribute to the photogravures of Karl Blossfeldt's "Urformen der Kunst".
about the photographer
Gregoris Mentzas leads a double life as an academic professor and a keen amateur photographer. He is a professor at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, where he teaches management information systems. He is also an avid photographer who let his passion stay dormant for years and only recently started anew his journey in digital photography.His work focuses on the concepts of time and decay, tranquility and silence. He strives to capture serenity and encapsulate the ephemeral quality of calmness. He rarely succeeds.
