entry description
This work was inspired by the recent events taken place in the media since 9/11 occurred in the United States- my own country. I wanted to showcase that past the prejudice against muslims and the misunderstandings about their faith and beliefs- they are people too. There is beauty in all backgrounds and faiths. Taking time to get to know the person beyond their appearance and stereotype that they may fall under, there is a person you would least likely expect to find. A beautiful human being that most likely does not fit the mold created by today's society and media coverage. I hope that these photographs spark humility and inspiration among everyone subject to the misconceptions among this particular religion.about the photographer
I am an ambitious twenty-three year old who recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a degree in criminal justice. Although I hope to become a prosecuting attorney, I have never lost my passion for photography and practicing it in my spare time when I am not buried in law books. I prefer shooting digital photography and photoshopping various manipulations, however I also appreciate the time, care, and luck required to succeed in the darkroom when processing and developing film. I never thought much of my photography as I entered my first photo class in high school- however I soon discovered that my creativity and desire to learn the tools of the trade worked hand in hand. After successfully completing three years of photography classes in high school and college, I felt it necessary to continue learning and exploring how I wanted to convey certain messages and emotions by starting my own business and launching what is now known as jaclynsphotos.com.back to gallery
