Mannequin Madness
This series was inspired by a mannequin that I found in a thrift shop. Initially, I thought I’d simply use it to display my wedding dress, another thrift store find that has been a great inspiration for a lot of my work, but this mannequin had a story to tell and I felt compelled to tell it. The Dressmaker was the first image I created and until its completion, I hadn’t actually considered creating a series, but I fell in love with the concept and decided to research other occupations that use mannequins as part of the designing process. The Mannequin Madness series began to take shape after the completion of The Seamstress and was shortly followed by The Corsetiere, thereby creating a triptych.

entry description
I have always had a secret love affair with surrealism. There’s something about the madness of it all that brings me tranquility. It forces you to see past the logic of everyday life and view the world in a completely illogical way. That’s what inspires me most — ordinary objects sprinkled with a little bit of magic to create something uniquely weird and unexpectedly beautiful. This series was inspired by a mannequin that I found in a thrift shop.
