entry description
I am most drawn to nature photography, especially macro and abstracted themes. I have recently completed an "Ocean Moods" series taken near Ocean Park WA and Leadbetter State Park. For about a year, I have returned to this same stretch of Washington state beach to photograph the sand and sea in different seasons, weather conditions, and times of the day. My goal has been to portray the sensation of being part of that environment by showing the colors that convey those feelings to me. "Raw" files rarely match my memory of the scene. During processing, I attempt to replicate the way my mind remembers the image. For me, it is always a theme in blue because at the seashore I feel as if I am enveloped a "blue" that is more atmosphere than color.about the photographer
I grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and went to the University of Michigan before beginning a teaching career in California and then Oregon. During that time, I also worked in textbook photo illustration. Now retired, I have more time to travel and enjoy creating images.back to gallery
