Clam Trees, Orleans, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

entry description
This was taken at Rock Harbor in Orleans, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. I heard about these trees from several friends on the Cape and decided to check them out for myself. Orleans is about 1.5 hr ride from my home. Interestingly, these trees are planted each year to designate the channel boundaries so boats won't run aground. I had several good looks during just after high tide and it fit perfectly with what I was going for- a simple image that had a mysterious subject to those unfamiliar with this area. I fought off many bugs and mud to get into the right position and I'm happy with the result.about the photographer
Relatively new to photography, I am drawn to simple landscapes of my lovely New England. With no formal training I have learned through rigorous trial and error. I love the solitude of being out in nature while the rest of the world sleeps. Currently I work in the medical field as a main source of income and take the opportunity to get out on weekends and early mornings to hopefully capture simple, dramatic and meaningful images. Starting out with primarily color images, my love for black and white has slowly taken over as my preference in the last year. I love the mood it creates and the creative flexibility it allows to process an image into an personal interpretation of the scene. I feel like I have a long way to go, but my love and passion for photography keeps me focused on improving every time I press the shutter. Long exposure photography has changed the way I see the world and gives me great pleasure in the process.back to gallery
