Soft candid
impression will release the trigger mechanism. The fuzziness, the contrast, the perceptible movement highlight the lack of precision and irrationality of the approach, and render objectivising impossible.
My camera, a Micro 4/3, rapid and silent, discretely hangs off my wrist; focusing on something or someone is the enemy of the impression, it’s a waste of time and a wellthough-out act. The camera fixes my first impression in the light, the impression I content
myself with. It captures the essential, for me: the superficial.
Street Photographs and street portraits, “candid mode”.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1.
Lightroom 5.
I am Belgian and live and work in Brussels.
I have a degree in Romance Philology.
An autodidact or not far off, I came to photography and the visual arts late in life. The approach I adopt is nonetheless the fruit of a life-long habit, that of a stroller, of a passer-by, keeping his eye on the world around him and letting himself be guided by his emotions. If the artistic practice is recent, the art of strolling is something I’ve been doing for 30 years now.

entry description
I don’t believe in the depth of human relations. The impression that the people give is much more interesting. I am a passer-by, a passer-by with a camera, in the middle of the crowd, looking for a purely aesthetic, intuitive yet emotional first impression. Thisimpression will release the trigger mechanism. The fuzziness, the contrast, the perceptible movement highlight the lack of precision and irrationality of the approach, and render objectivising impossible.
