Muay Thai Fighter
Muay Thai Fighter Hale Vaasa pummels his opponent in the corner, as the Referee is about to call the fight off.
His personal work with Muay Thai fighters has drawn national attention and won him the 2014 AIPP Australian Sports Photographer of the Year and current two time AIPP QLD Documentary Photographer of the Year.
Matt's action photography saw him exhibit seven years of live music photography of some of the world's biggest music stars in Images Of Note, 2014, and he was also the chief photographer of national footballing side Brisbane Roar FC during their championship winning seasons.
Personal exploration and project based work has been a theme in Matt's career, and he presented on the topic at photographic conference Hair Of The Dog in 2015. Always looking for fresh challenges and projects, Matt has just returned from an expedition to Iceland to document abandoned farmhouses and factories in the wilderness.
In daily life Matt is passionate about taking amazing photographs of people in love, his wife, and music.
