entry description
While I was working on my project Moonland (2nd IPA 2015), I began to reflect on idea of unique images. Early on, I experimented Polaroid 4x5 inch and then I approached vintage B&W gelatin silver papers. I shot on 4x5 and 8x10 large format cameras, using the papers on my film holder like a negative and exposing them direct to the sun for long exposures. The intense light of sun literally burn the FB papers, solarizing them (and turning into a positive image) with beautiful orange hints and holes. This technique was discovered by great photographer Chris McCaw. The scarce info about his workflow was solved by a meticulous reading of Ansel Adams book n. 3; vintage papers features and darkroom techniques. I hand develop sheets in traditional way, using different dilutions and chemicals to preserve the emulsion, most of them expired in 1970s.. The final result is a ONE OF A KIND and THREE-DIMENSIONAL gelatin silver print.about the photographer
