Pollution transforms the delightful poetry of fresh leaves, blooming flowers and luscious fruits into a tragic tale of plant morbidity. There are people who are saddened by the sight of a plant dying, being killed slowly by pollution. And there are other people who are saddened by the sight of a plant dying, seeing a reflection of their own slowly dying hearts, being trapped in a smothering relationship. Mendy Howe (full name: Melendres Howe) is a Filipina British national, a self-taught artist in Chinese Watercolor and Digital Art. Her formal background includes a PhD in Math and Computing at Imperial College London, a few years at various banks and fund houses in the City of London, and current employment as Principal Pension Specialist at the Asian Development Bank. She co-authored a well-received graduate text on optimization and financial risk management, published by Princeton (Book Title: Algorithms For Worst-Case Design And Applications To Risk Management).Mendy paints Chinese watercolor and she digitizes her painting to explore the depths, tones, and hues in the painting.
