Frank Ghery and Jean Novel - the Importance of Being a Good Neighbor
The idea was very apparent when I saw 100 11th Avenue designed by Jean Nouvel next to Gehry's IAC building in lower Manhattan.
Jean Nouvel built 100 11th after the IAC, and I feel that Mr. Nouvel had the same idea of being a good neighbor.
It is difficult to photograph one building without the other because they complement each other so well. The texture of the 100 11th Avenue plays well against the smooth glass of the AIC. At the right time of the day, 100 11th casts beautiful and playful shadows against the AIC.
It is a great example of new architecture fitting into the landscape and complementing each other -- good neighbors.
