entry description
This photograph was created at the Lincoln Memorial the night after Lincoln's birthday. Using no digital tricks nor multiple exposures, I open the shutter of my 4x5 film camera and enter the frame of my shot while wearing a black coat and a stovepipe hat. I stand before Lincoln perfectly still for one minute during a 90-second long-exposure. I don't make a blur on the negative while I'm entering and exiting the frame because I'm wearing black (and black is the absence of light). For the 30-seconds that I'm not standing there, the light of Lincoln will shine through my silhouette on the negative and I will become translucent.back to gallery
