title
Scars
At the beginning of my studies (2008) at the Academy of Fine Arts, I fell seriously sick and needed to have two operations on my stomach. As a result of that, not to mention the pain and inefficiency of my body for few months, I was left with many scars.
Time was passing and due to lots of works that we as students had to produce for the classes, I had no time to focus on myself. Only after graduation (2013), I found a moment to "heal the wounds" and move on.
"Body Illusion" project started in 2016. I invited women with unperfections like mines to collaborate with me as "models". I captured only small parts of their bodies in black and white because I wanted to keep this visual idea simple, also draw the viewers attention to the scars' textures which appear to me as beautiful now.
The title is a somewhat continuation of my diploma work ("The illusion of reality") that refers to the topic of deconstruction, in other words: to the idea of revising the ideas, reality and tries to answer the question of how we see, understand the world - to say in general.
Graduated from the Graphic Department at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arst in Cracow in 2013. She has a diploma in screenprinting.
