The images he creates lend a quiet nobility to his subjects, and in aggregate serve to highlight the humanity of those photographed. In his street photography, the images are unobtrusive, but manage to communicate the intimacy of the individual’s stories. His recent work has been exploring a more conceptual and crafted approach, using subjects to process the myriad of emotions experienced by Black Americans.
Self taught, Laurent Chevalier takes an ever open approach to his work, sharing the fleeting and freeing seconds that are experienced when unscripted.
