honorable mention
Ursula Rasch germany
title
Just Harry
The series “Just Harry” depicts (point of) views into an off-the-wall kitchen of a bachelor living in Berlin. The series ostensibly suggests a composition of pictures being especially arranged for the camera lens. However, there is no before-hand arrangement of Harry’s kitchen scenography – as found and shot. Though, the technological method of the series is envolving a C-41 development of colour negative film increasing contrasts and tainting colours.
Ursula Rasch is a German photographer living for over 20 years in Berlin. She successfully completed her training as a photographer at the famous “Lette-Verein” Berlin and received several awards for her single pictures and series during the years. Her broad spectrum includes stills, architectural, panoramic and, above all, momentary photographs that unveil the paradoxes of commonplaces, of the unknown-known.
The photographer Rasch loves travelling and strolling around to glance at situations and going-ons at the fringe of life in order to capture them by her camera. Many a time, the incidental becomes a condensed subject within her photographs, the kitsch is used as a stylistic device, and bizarre forms of appearances are photographically recorded in the frame of details.
