MEDIA EXPERIENCE:
1976-77 Produced two films about working in rural Maine. Done while teaching economics at the University
of Maine in Farmington, ME. In one, “The Main Point”, a line from the narrative (“he don’t make
much money at it, but, what the hell, he’s independent… that’s the main point”) was the inspiration
for the title and for the studio that would eventually sustain me for four decades.
1978-79 Produced two short documentaries: “Armenians/ Americans” about dual identities and the
strength derived from shared ethnicity; and “Old”, personal narratives about aging. Done with
grants while living in Newton, MA.
1981-Present: Operates Main Point Productions, a media design and production studio based in a
150 year old stone bank barn near Valley Forge. Have written, produced and directed
hundreds of programs for film, video and multi-media. Have directed post-production in numerous
languages including Spanish, Russian and Japanese.
International production experience in Europe, Mexico, Central and South America. Have worked in
a wide range of production environments from steel mills to Nevada gold mines to the floor of the NY
Stock Exchange to remote villages at the top of the Andes.
A recent work about adolescent sex offenders, “Givin’ It Up”, was a finalist for Best Documentary at
the NY Film and Video Festival. It also received a Director’s Citation at Black Maria Film Festival in New Jersey. A new documentary, “Aftershock”, about the Iraq War, is in post-production.
