It is an examination of the inherent alchemical properties of both photographic and ceramic materials coupled with psychological figure gestures and portraits that hope to portray something of metamorphosis in the human experience. Being ultimately rendered photographically, it is also a commentary on the continued relevance of analogue photography in the digital age.

Metamorphosis: Transmutations is a series of multi-image vignettes that start with a representational subject and through the use of large format photography, ceramic materials and a series of uniquely developed exposure techniques, transform that subject into flowing abstractions of shape, color and texture.It is an examination of the inherent alchemical properties of both photographic and ceramic materials coupled with psychological figure gestures and portraits that hope to portray something of metamorphosis in the human experience. Being ultimately rendered photographically, it is also a commentary on the continued relevance of analogue photography in the digital age.

Jeff Klapperich is a Brooklyn photographer, who challenges the medium using a variety of approaches. His main interests are in film amd exposure manipulation. Jeff is also versed in a variety of other mediums, and uses his knowledge of drawing, sculpture and printmaking to help him achieve his results.back to gallery
