Mounaineering Women
Not only does nature not care about skin color, gender, social background or status. It also creates opportunities for everyone to experience their authentic self by putting theirself into natural situations and contexts. These might be extreme on various scales and in all different terrains that our land- and seascapes have to offer.
I often chose the mountains as my environmental playground, never ending source of inspiration and space for new experiences. For the women I portrayed in this series in the different mountain landscapes of Europe, moving and climbing along the vertical means to be in a world outside of society even in the presence of other people. Away from today's expectations to modern day women, away from the prejudices, away from the sexism. And away from being unequal members of our tribe.
The exposure of high altitude is a deep conversation with yourself, with your fears, your doubts not to suffice.
In this way it is almost a ritual, from which you will never return to society without being changed or empowered.
