BIG DREAM AMERICA
At that time, as the owner of a Romanian passport, opportunities to travel were rare, except perhaps to a few other socialist countries. Discovering other beautiful places on this earth was almost impossible. Traveling to America at that time, as a Romanian citizen, would be exactly the same as landing a self-made space shuttle on the moon.
In 1989, Ceausescu's era ended. Many people left the country looking for better opportunities for their lives. I left Romania in 1990, not even 20 years old, and lived on in Nuremberg, Germany.
10 years later I got a German passport. Life now offered quite different possibilities, I could travel wherever I wanted. I was able to discover places on this planet that I only knew from magazines and books. In 2007, my big dream, a trip to America, came true.
In 2010 I started photography and it took me another 7 years until my wish and my dream to connect these magical places with the pictures in my head took shape.
My series BIG DREAM AMERICA should be a homage to life and an incentive to never lose faith, even if the circumstances of life often seem difficult or impossible. Never stop clinging to your dreams.
''My Images manifested my feelings, dreams, experiences and encounters. The imageries range from melancholic and vulnerable to bizarre and even grotesque. I am not afraid of going beyond established boundaries and I like people who are curious to find out what is behind a facade.''

entry description
As a child growing up under Ceausescu's rule, I remember that there were only 2 TV programs, both broadcasting socialist propaganda from 7 in the morning until 12 at night. There was no internet, no computers, tablet PCs or anything like that, I was completely cut off from the rest of the world. At that time, as the owner of a Romanian passport, opportunities to travel were rare, except perhaps to a few other socialist countries. Discovering other beautiful places on this earth was almost impossible.
