ReflectingYou
We need to become aware of the connection existing between all human beings in order to find ourselves in others and understand the immense dignity of life. ReflectingYou is a photographic project and a personal experience at the same time. The result of the project is a portrait which combines the images of two people, their unique characteristics and personal features, together with an undeniable connection. It’s an interactive photographic project aims to visually represent the profound and deep relationship between all human beings.
ReflectingYou is also an experience as the participants are part of the process from the very beginning to the end. From being together on the photographic set, where they cooperate in real time with the photographer, to the final exhibition, where the printed portraits are displayed and they become aware of the entire process.
ReflectingYou does not involve any digital manipulation or special effect. The combined portraits are real shots, one person holds a mirror in which the other is reflected, the camera catches the ultimate hidden truth in a photo, a universal connection between two people. Although each image combines just two participants, and is just one of the possible and infinite combinations, in essence ReflectingYou expresses the idea that we can find ourselves reflected in all other human beings. It wants to awaken in the participants a respect for each other despite difference, and an understanding that when we strip away those perceived differences, we are all connected.
We can reveal our beautiful shared humanity by transcending all differences. Human beings are all made of the same substance, part of the same picture, or portrait, if you prefer. ReflectingYou is designed to build respect for all humanity and life itself whilst retaining the individual personalities.
In 2008 I founded with three friends "Effe45", a non-profi organization aimed at promoting photographic projects, and from 2009 and 2016 I worked as a freelance photographic assistant to professional photographers.
In 2014 I started collaborating with Photo Studio Casadio and working on "ReflectingYou", a photographic project aimed at representing the profound connection between all human beings. ReflectinYou is crafted by avoiding any digital manipulation.
In 2016 I moved to London and two years later I decided to implement "ReflctingYou" to improve engagement and build respect among people by creating unique portraits of dualisms.

about the photographer
My name is Davide and I was born in Bologna, a little city between Florence and Venice, where I met photography. I started taking photos when I was a child and never stopped since then.In 2008 I founded with three friends "Effe45", a non-profi organization aimed at promoting photographic projects, and from 2009 and 2016 I worked as a freelance photographic assistant to professional photographers.
