Photodissonance
Growing up in New York City and London, Andrea was exposed to the vibrancy and diversity of fashion from a very young age. Her interest in fashion and its advertising in particular, impelled her towards a career in that industry—and she currently is employed at Vogue Magazine.
Andrea strives for happiness and visual appeal everywhere, especially in her art work. Bright colors, and humor dominate in her images and serve as counter-points to the serious messages she addresses. Prompting viewers to enjoy the aesthetic aspects of her work is crucial to the understanding of her ultimate theme— that visual appeal is everything.

entry description
We see what is at surface level, not always looking at what is truly there. Tricked by the way things are portrayed to us in the media, advertisers gain and we lose. The photos we see everyday that convince us of beauty and the standards we must uphold are curated to create illusions of a fairytale world. Concealing and disguising items of beauty, I employ tools of the advertising industry to explore and question our environment of obsessive need to change ourselves and strive for perfection.about the photographer
